ICHC 2013 Post Conference Tour 1 (Jyväskylä)
Post Conference Tour is arranged in Jyväskylä, Finland on Saturday the 6th of July. The tour starts from Helsinki Marina Conference Centre at 7.30.
During the day it is possible to visit a part of Struve Geodetic Arc, which is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest, Norway to the Black Sea through 10 countries and over 2,820 km. Struve Geodetic Arc is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Struve Geodetic Arc includes 34 of the original station points with different markings, i.e. a drilled hole in rock, iron cross, cairns, or built obelisks.

Post Conference Tour visits one point of it in Oravivuori in Korpilahti, Jyväskylä.
In the afternoon there is a presentation of the Fredrikson Map Collection which includes mostly world maps.
Bus ride back to Helsinki or the Post Conference Tour 2 to Savonlinna leaves from Jyväskylä at 16.00.
The Tour 1 is sponsored by the National Land Survey of Finland and limited to maximum 90 people (select the Tour 1 in the registration form). Please note that visit to Oravivuori requires good walking shoes and the hill is about 100 m high from the harbour and path is occasionally rather steep.
The tour is for max. 90 people.
